Chapter 1: Film Don End, But My Scene Never Finish
When I enter the book world, the story sef don finish already. The second male lead don waka go find peace for one quiet town, while the main male and female leads dey rule their own world, dey shine like say nothing concern us for back.
For my mind, e be like film wey don end, na only the credits remain. Everybody dey clap for hero and heroine, but me I just dey pack chair for back, dey wait make light off. I dey watch dem dey carry all the shine, dey soak the spotlight. Me, I just dey find my own small corner for the shadows.
Me, na waka pass I be—na only God know how many scenes remain for my script—but somehow, na me still end up marry the second male lead.
Sometimes, when I dey look mirror, I go wonder who even carry me enter their story, how I waka sidon for seat wey no belong to me before. But na so life be—sometimes your story go twist, you go dey chop another person leftover.
I sabi say him heart dey with the female lead, and my own fate don set. But after three years for marriage, the guy treat me well, do everything for me, even promise me long life.
He dey gentle like harmattan breeze for evening. E get the way he go call my name for night, just dey hold my hand steady when the pain dey bite. Even if e be say na pity, na still warm hand I dey hold for cold night.
Just when I begin dey reason say maybe him don really love me, na that time dem poison the female lead.
My chest beat anyhow when I hear. For this our small town, gist no dey ever waste time. E be like say my own happiness na just for rent, not to own.
The guy just rush go the capital anyhow, forget say today na the day my sickness dey always catch me.
People fit talk say e no too bad—after all, na the Queen. But me, I sabi as the thing pain me deep for bone. Person wey suppose dey for my side run leave me for another woman wahala.
