Chapter 6: Temptation Strikes Back
Another week, another excuse. [A friend’s wedding, have to be a groomsman in Pune.] I typed. Arjun: [No free time at all?]
Me: [Round trip itself will take eight hours.]
The truth? No wedding. I was just scared. Two weeks of abstinence was tough. Saturday, I tried some toys at home, but nothing worked. Couldn’t get Arjun out of my head. To distract myself, I took a cab to the office for overtime. But fate was playing games: Arjun was working late too. He came out of the pantry, coffee in hand, eyebrow raised. "Nearby city? Groomsman?"
I forced a laugh. "Wedding got cancelled last minute."
Arjun just laughed, annoyed. "Kabir, you’re avoiding me."
I wanted to hide behind the old files in the corner. There he was, in jeans and a faded college tee—so different from his boardroom look. He sipped his coffee, studying me like a puzzle. Destiny, yaar. What can you do?
