Mom came storming over with my homework: "Natalie, your homework accuracy is less than 70%. Come home and correct your mistakes."
She slammed the packet down in front of me, ignoring my friends’ shocked faces. My cheeks burned with embarrassment, the happy birthday song dying in my throat.
