As I got close to my sister-in-law’s body, suddenly, she opened her eyes.

My breath hang for throat, I no fit shout. Chai! My heart almost jump comot for my mouth. E be like say time freeze, the kind way when NEPA take light during football match. The cold for that room pass normal, like say all the ancestors dey watch us.

She said, "Chinedu, run."

Her voice be like breeze wey dey blow from inside grave—heavy, slow, and make person body dey stand. Even my shadow shake. The way she call my name, na only person wey know you from small fit take that kind tone.

Chinedu na my name.

As I hear my name for her mouth, my legs weak. Even my spirit sef wan jump comot. Chinedu. Name wey dem give me after my papa best friend. I dey wonder if na really her dey talk, or if spirit just dey play with my mind.
