Chapter 13: Rescue and Defiance
Dem burst the door. Group of disciples rush enter, shock as dem see blood everywhere, all of dem just dey look me with worry. The two wey dey front especially: The calm and honest one first come, grab my wrist:
I see real fear for dem face, the kind wey you no fit hide even if you be big man for camp. Their mouth dey open, eyes red. I hear small 'Chineke! Wetin be this?' from one, another just shout 'Olorun maje!' before switching back to English. For that moment, the whole Palm Grove, with all im power, dey look small like lizard for my front. The spirit of Umuola dey with me. Dem fit think say na weakness, but na now I strong pass. My story never end—God and ancestors never write full stop for my name. If dem wan finish me, dem never see wahala. My journey just dey start.
